I know this is going up later than usual, but it’s been a busy few months for me. Here is what I’ve been loving in the month of August; and get ready for a lot of food favorites 🙂
Beauty/Skincare
NEST Fragrances Citrine-I received a sample of this in my PLAY! by Sephora box and immediately fell in love with it. It has a nice, crisp feel to it and I found that it was great for the spring/summer months. It smells light and floral and has a tinge of citrus, hence the name. Let’s just say I will definitely be purchasing the full-size now 🙂
L’Oreal Clay Masks-I first heard about these masks on Youtube. All the beauty vloggers were talking about them and so, of course, I had to immediately go buy them and try them out. I absolutely love them! I saw results right away, especially with the one that is designed specifically for oily skin. They are great for multi-masking, which seems to be the newest trend in skincare. In fact, that is how I first used them. If you would like me to do a more in-depth review on these, let me know.
L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Foundation-I am constantly trying out new foundations and BB creams because I tend to either not find the right shade or I react weirdly to them, #sensitiveskin. I had been wanting to try out this new trend of cushion foundations for a very long time and finally took the plunge with this one. I have to say that it’s been great. I apply it with my Real Techniques sponge and it glides on smoothly. My skin hasn’t reacted weirdly too it, which is always a plus. It also makes my skin glow, which I always love. I will say that it doesn’t work well in my T-zone. I have a very oily T-zone and I have to put extra powder on it when wearing any foundation.
Wet n’ Wild Nail Polish in Yo Soy-When I first saw this color on the shelf, I thought it was too pale and was going to wash me out. It turns out that it doesn’t. It’s a beautiful neutral shade that works well anytime of the year. I think it will look great for the fall season, especially. It doesn’t last as long as some brands do, but if you use the right top coats and base coats you can get it to last about a week. If you’re like me and you get bored pretty easily, then this is the right nail polish for you.
Fashion
Birkenstocks-I have been wearing my Birkenstock sandals all summer, but especially during this month. They are soo comfortable and versatile. They have worked with every outfit I’ve worn throughout the month of August. Now, I know there is some kind of stigma with Birkenstocks but I honestly just don’t care. I say wear whatever you want and makes you feel comfortable 🙂
Love Sweatshirt (similar)-I needed a new pullover sweatshirt for the upcoming season, so when I came across this one I knew I needed to have it. I’ve always wanted a sweatshirt this style, but all the ones I had looked at were soo expensive. This one is perfect. It’s comfy and warm and I wear it all the time, even when it’s too hot outside.
Long, Striped Button-up Shirt-I call this shirt my “mom” shirt. When I wear it, I kind of look like a stay-at-home or soccer mom (Not that there is anything wrong with that). It is so comfy and something I throw on when I want to look a little more dressed up and put-together. It comes with a belt that sits around the waist, but I tend to not wear it with the belt. I love the skinny stripes because it feels kind of nautical and I LOVE the nautical theme. It has cute pockets on either side of the buttons, which I think adds a nice touch to the shirt.
Cold-Shoulder Elephant Top (similar)-I absolutely love this top. When I saw it in the store, I had to get it. I love elephants, they are one of my favorite animals, so seeing the elephant on the top just made me want it even more. I love the color. I don’t usually go for greens, but this dark, hunter green suits my skin tone really well. I love the cold-shoulder trend and love that this top has that element. I also like that it’s kind of a pseudo-crop top. I am not a big fan of crop tops, partly because I don’t like showing off my stomach, but this top allows me to kind of have that feel while also covering up.
Food
NatureBox Sea Salt Pop Pops-When I saw that Target was stocking some of this brand’s snacks, I was extremely excited. I had been toying with the idea of signing up for this subscription service, but eventually decided against it. So, instead I have purchased them from Target. These have to be my favorite ones from the ones I have tried. I am the kind of person who will eat the half-popped kernels from the popcorn. These are perfect for me. They are easy to eat and taste great. The only issue I have is that they are soo addicting! But, let’s be honest. That isn’t really an issue 😉
NatureBox Lemon Tea Biscuits-These are great when I need to calm my sweet tooth down. They are the perfect amount of sweetness, especially after having a more savory meal. The only thing I will negatively say about these is that they are super buttery, so I can only eat a few at a time.
NatureBox Asiago & Cheddar Cheese Crisps-I like these when I want something kind of savory with my meal. They’re a great replacement for potato chips. I also can’t eat very many of these because they have a real bite to them.
Lays Tsatziki Chips-I love gyros and tsatziki sauce! So, when I saw a commercial for Lays and they’re campaign for choosing a new chip flavor I immediately wanted to try these. I love these because they are both savory and cool. What do I mean by this? Well, the after taste is cucumber-like. They make a great snack and to me, it’s like eating a gyro in chip form.
Snickers Ice Cream Bars-Snickers is my all-time favorite candy bar. It’s even better in ice cream form, so when these go on sale I immediately jump on it. It is the perfect amount of ice cream for my lactose-sensitive stomach.
Chicken Salad-I love chicken salad and my mom made the best chicken salad throughout the month of August. It was so good, it’s basically all I ate for lunch for several days in a row. I will have to post a recipe on here so you can all try it 🙂
Tech
Best Fiends-I downloaded this game a while back and grew bored of it. Well, I decided to give it a second chance and downloaded it again and now I’m obsessed. It’s so much fun, especially if you like matching games, which I do. The characters are soo cute and it’s soo easy to play. It is also challenging. It takes me several, I mean several, tries to get past levels.
Music
Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake
Work From Home by Fifth Harmony
Entertainment/Books/TV
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven-I will do a separate review on this book. But, I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It’s a great YA novel.
This is what I have been loving throughout the month of August. Let me know what some of your favorites were this month 🙂
