A while ago, I had the urge to do one of these posts. So, I went out to a few drugstores (Walgreens & CVS to be specific) and spent WAY too much money on beauty products 🙂
Just a little warning, this post is going to be filled with pictures, but I will try and incorporate as much as my first impressions of products under the pics.
Anyway, let’s get on with the fun part.
CoverGirl
CGSmoothers BB Cream in 805 Fair to Light-I love this stuff and this isn’t a new product for me. Yes, this is a repurchase. I just love how smooth it goes on and keeps me feeling moisturized during the day. It’s the perfect product if you’re not a fan of wearing a lot of makeup.
The Super Sizer Fibers Mascara in 810 Black Brown-This is another repurchase and you all know what I think of this product. This one has showed up a few times in other posts.
Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in 350-I like eyeshadow sticks because they are a ‘no fuss’ kind of makeup product. You just slap it on and you’re basically done. This one goes on nicely and I love the color. It’s kind of a gold, taupey color.
Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in 355-Again, it goes on nicely. I like the color, but I thought it would be more mauvy or taupey. It’s pretty none the less. (Sorry, forgot to take a pic of the swatch and couldn’t be bothered to redo it.)
Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in 340-Goes on nicely and the color is pretty. It’s a nice rose gold color, which I think will be great to wear everyday or for any holiday parties you may have coming up 🙂
Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in 300-I got this one because I wanted a color I wouldn’t usually wear and was out of my comfort zone. This one is definitely out of my comfort zone. I like it though. It’s a silvery, gray color and would be great for a smokey eye or on its own. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it goes on a little patchy. Layering is going to be key with this color.
Maybelline
Baby Lips Dr Rescue Medicated Balm in 45 Just Peachy-I have tried these before, just not this particular line. I am not a big fan of the scent. It’s got that menthol smell to it. Even though I don’t like that smell, I got this because I have had issues with dry lips this fall. Now that it’s getting much colder here in Minnesota, I needed an extra boost. Plus, it’s nice to have a lip balm that gives you some extra color. Speaking of color, it’s definitely got that ‘your lips but better’ vibe. I hope you can tell in the picture 🙂 I do like the color.
ExpertWear Eyeshadow in 150S Smoky Coal-I don’t like the packaging. It’s too fiddly. I don’t like the feel of the product. It’s got a grainy feeling to it. I’m also not sure about the color. I’ll have to try it out on the eyes first.
ExpertWear Eyeshadow in 180S Silken Taupe-In the pot, the color is really pretty. When it’s swatched, it looks really pretty too but it goes on very light. I think I might have to use it as a base color.
ExpertWear Eyeshadow in 10S Vanilla-I got this one as a base color. The color in the pot is very pretty and kind of has a yellow tinge to it. Swatched, the color is much prettier. It goes on as a shimmery white, which is perfect if you want that glowing eye look.
24HR Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in 90 Vintage Plum-The packaging is nice. It’s very hefty. The color is interesting in the pot. I’m not sure I like the color when I see it swatched. It’s kind of a weird brown/taupey color and I don’t think I would wear this as an all-over lid color. Also, when I think of plum I think of a purple shade. Although, I would probably wear it as an eyeliner. I like that it’s a gel formula because it makes it easier to apply. I don’t like that it goes on patchy.
24HR Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in 25 Bad to the Bronze-Love the color. Goes on nicely. I think it would look great on it’s own or with other eye colors.
Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in 10 Never Bare-Love the applicator. I also think this would be a good dupe for the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks. I like that it’s more glossy. The color is really pretty too.
Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in 35 Berry Naughty-I like that it goes on very opaque. The color is very pretty. Can never get enough berry colors 🙂 This berry shade is more red, which I like.
Revlon
Super Lustrous Lipstick in 407 Rosedew (Pearl finish)-The packaging is sleek and love that it’s the classic Revlon packaging. Some lipsticks have a scent to them, whether it’s that gross plasticky scent or a nice smelling one. This one does not have either, which is fine with me 🙂 The color is really pretty too. It’s a nice pinky, coral color which will be great for the spring/summer time. I think it will work well year-round as well.
Super Lustrous Lipstick in 477 Black Cherry (Creme finish)-Again, the packaging is that sleek, classic Revlon packaging which I love. Also, no scent. I wanted some more deep berry colors for the fall/winter months and this one is definitely that shade. It’s kind of weird though; before you apply it, as you can see, it looks like a brown red color but once it’s applied it’s a beautiful burgundy color.
Milani
I want to preface this section by saying that I have been wanting to try out this brand for ages and have finally found where to get it.
Moisture Lock Lip Treatment in 01 Coconut Oil Infused-I saw these and was intrigued by them. They have several different ones and this coconut one seemed like the one I needed. Like I said before, I have been dealing with very dry lips and wanted to try out some different remedies. I love the packaging. It’s sleek and has that frosted glass look. The scent is what you think it is, coco-nutty. It has the biggest doe-foot applicator I think I’ve ever see on a product though.
Moisture Lock Lip Treatment in 04 Grape seed Oil Infused-Not a fan of the scent. As you can see, it has the same packaging except that it has a purple tinge to it. It doesn’t have that frosted glass look, which would have been nicer.
Matte Lipstick in 61 Naked-I like the gold packaging and the fact that it shows you the color at the bottom of the bullet. It applies kind of patchy, but that could be because it’s on my skin and not my lips. I like the color. It’s a nude brown shade. I really love nude lip shades these days and this is a perfect addition to the collection I already have.
Matte Lipstick in 70 Fearless-This is another berry color. It applies nicely, but it may go on patchy as well. Definitely will have to do a few layers. I like the color. Unlike the Revlon one I bought, this one is that deep, berry shade I was looking for.
Powder Blush in 01 Romantic Rose-Absolutely LOVE the packaging. As you can see, they have carved it to make it look like a rose. It’s also a gorgeous color; perfect for fall/winter as well as for an everyday look. Not a fan of how you have to open it. Most blushes have some kind of clasp you can hold onto while opening it, this one does not. I feel like I might drop it while trying to open it. It’s very soft and goes on very lightly. I don’t know if you will be able to tell from the swatch what it looks like, but it’s kind of a pinky/nude shade.
Rimmel
Match Perfection Concealer in 125 Fair-I got this mainly because I heard really good things about it. I also thought it would be a good under eye concealer to try. I like the packaging. The applicator is nice and is soft, which is good for the under eye area. I can tell that it’s going to get goopy and messy pretty quick after each use. I’ve also noticed that it might be too yellowy for my skin, but we will see.
The Only 1 Lipstick in 200 It’s a Keeper-This one looks pretty similar to another one I have. In fact, it may be the same one. At first glance in the bullet, I don’t really like the color but when I swatched it I thought it was pretty. I don’t like that it goes on patchy.
Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 30-I like that the packaging has Kate’s signature. (If you don’t know, these lipsticks are made in collaboration with Kate Moss). The color is gorgeous in the bullet form. It’s also very pretty in the swatch form. I find that it’s similar to the Maybelline Color Jolt in Berry Naughty.
Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 08-Another nude color. This one is a peachy nude and is very pretty.
Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in 064 Obsession-This is kind of a repurchase for me. The product I’ve used before, but the color I haven’t. I like these to a certain extent. They are very soft and break easily, so you need a very light hand when applying it. I was expecting this color to be a more brown color, but it surprisingly swatches as a red, berry color. It is pretty though.
Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in 018 Addiction-This one has a different nib, which is like the other ones I have. I think I prefer the nib that Obsession has more. The one on this color I find breaks more easily. And as I was just swatching this color, the nib broke. I like the color. It will go well with some lip colors I own.
L’Oreal
24HR Infallible Eye Shadow in 222 Infinite Sky-The packaging is pretty simple. The product feels nice and soft and goes on very opaque. The color is gorgeous. I love wearing blues on my lids. I just think it makes my blue eyes even bluer.
24HR Infallible Eye Shadow in 333 Golden Sage-Love the color. It is definitely out of my comfort zone, but I think that’s why I bought it. I can see why it’s called ‘Golden Sage’. It has these pretty flecks of gold running through it.
Infallible Pro Matte Gloss in 316 Statement Nude-I like the packaging. It’s funky. I don’t know how a gloss can be matte. It just seems like a contradiction. In the tube, I like the color. It’s kind of a nude brown (90s) shade. I also like the color swatched. Not a fan of the applicator.
Collection Exclusive Lipstick in 350 Frieda’s Nude-This is made in collaboration with several celebrities and this one happens to be the one Freida Pinto went with. Love the packaging. It’s soo classy and elegant. I also love that it has Frieda’s signature on it. The color is pretty in the bullet. It’s kind of a mauvy, pink shade. When swatched, the color goes on very sheer. It’s more of a glossy finish than a typical lipstick would be.
Soap & Glory
Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist-The packaging is nice except that the cap comes off too easily. Goes on very sheer. The color is a ‘your lips but better’ shade.
Sexy Mother Pucker Matte-Lip in Pretty Muted-The packaging is cool because it has a matte finish. I like that they match the type of lip finish to the packaging finish. The color looks very pink in the bullet form. Maybe a little too pink for my taste. Swatched, it’s VERY pink. I’m not sure about this one yet.
Wet n’ Wild
Velvet Matte Lip Color in A363 Hickory Smoked-I like the packaging. It’s sleek and minimalist. The color is pretty. It’s a berry pink shade. This product glides on nicely and goes on opaque.
Velvet Matte Lip Color in A364 Charred Cherry-Again, I like the packaging. The color looks very orangey/pink, but when swatched it comes out more like a nude brown. It’s pretty.
As you can see, I went ham on the beauty products. Especially the lip products. I have an obsession and I’m working on it 🙂 Let me know if you end up trying out these products and whether you have tried any of these yourself. I would be interested to know what you think and what drugstore products you are loving right now.
