I know, I know. This one is very late, but I always say better late than never.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub-I’m not usually one to go for really bright colors, but for some reason this one I was drawn to. Maybe it is the brand or maybe my tastes are changing, who knows. As you can see, it is a very bright magenta shade and I think perfect for summer. Or if you want to rock all year round, you do you. I personally won’t, but that’s my prerogative. It is a matte formula, and one that feels very drying on my poor already dry lips. To get the full effect, I wore it on it’s own without using lip balm first. I highly suggest using a lip balm first, especially if you’re like me and are not fond of that ‘life being sucked out of your lips’ feeling. I also suggest using the dabbing method when applying. I did this and it allowed me to control how much product was actually touching my lips. I experienced a few downsides to wearing this liquid lipstick. One of which was transfer. This formula, despite being matte, will transfer with eating and drinking. I also experienced pilling and bunching up. These two experiences went hand in hand. Other than that, it lasted most of the day and faded evenly.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Glow Pad Gradual Glow-I’m usually pretty wary of any fake tanning products. There was no exception here. I pulled these out of the bag and immediately was kind of disappointed. However, I will give this product one credit. It is from a skincare brand, and a well known one at that. When I applied this, I was hoping that I would at least see some results the next day. Well, I was disappointed with this product yet again. Although it’s a gradual tan product, I didn’t see any difference in my skin tone. It also stung my skin where I had some blemishes, which was not fun. All in all, there is a whole list of things I didn’t like about this product.
Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Crème-I think this might be the first product I have ever tried from this brand and I am pleasantly impressed by it. I’m always looking for products that accentuate my naturally wavy hair. This product is one of them. Not only did accentuate my curls, it also smells amazing. Kind of a warm, homey, vanilla scent. Who doesn’t want that?!
Tarte Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisturizer in Light-I’ve tried a LOT of BB creams/tinted moisturizers over the years. This one is just another in a long line. I was neither impressed nor disappointed in this product. I think it would be good for an everyday alternative to foundation. However, I would wear it when I don’t have fake tan on. The shade they sent me was a little too light. Despite that, I found that it evened out my skin tone and that it lasted quite a long time. The other things I liked about it were that it has SPF and has no scent. I’m always for extra sun protection, especially for my face, and I don’t like heavily scented skincare or makeup.
Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It-I received two hair products, this one and the Briogeo one I mentioned above, which I found a little annoying. I got over it quick when I tried this out. It too accentuated my waves. However, it did not tame my frizzy hair. It’s okay though because I usually find that this is the case with a lot of these types of hair products. I liked it’s lightweight texture and that it was a no-fuss kind of product. I just shuzed it through my hair and I was out the bathroom door.
Derek Lam 10 Crosby Blackout Perfume-As soon as I pulled this out of the bag, I went ‘NOPE’. I received one of these samples before, a different scent, and was not a fan. I didn’t even bother to try it because of that previous experience. That being said, I will provide you with the notes so you can decide for yourselves whether you would like to try it or not.
- Fragrance Family-Earthy & Woody
- Top Notes-Osmanthus; This is a plant, commonly know as Devilwood. The flowers of this plant are likened to the scent of apricot or peach.
- Base Notes-Chai Tea Essence
That is what I received in my June PLAY! by Sephora. Let me know your feelings on these products, if you’ve tried them, or would like to try them in the comments down below.
Thanks for reading!
