My Favorite Nail Polish & Tools

13.12.17 | jesslynnwrites | No Comments

I love painting my nails. Heck! I love getting my nails done just as much, minus spending the money for it. I think when your nails are nice and manicured and painted with a pretty color, it shows your personality. At least that’s what I’m going for when I paint mine. I have the worst nails in the winter time, so naturally I like to hide how bad they look. Painting my nails is how I do it.

I thought I would share with you all the colors I like to wear, separated into seasons, and the tools I use to take care of my nails. Let’s start with the tools.

I tend to keep to what I know and what I have found works when it comes to tools. I use Trim Cuticle Sticks to not only push back my cuticles, but also to clean around my nails when the polish goes awry. It always does for me. When I need to file my nails, I like to keep mine pretty short, I reach for my beloved *Mont Bleu Glass Nail File. Along with my trusty cuticle sticks, I like to use the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. Now, I don’t know how much this does for my cuticles but it does help soften them up so I can easily push them back.

To remove my nail polish, I like to use the Up & Up Nail Polish Remover Dip-It. This handy little pot has made my life soo much easier. I used to use regular ‘ol nail polish remover out of the bottle, but this got to be too much work for me. There has only been one base coat and one top coat I’ve used for a very long time. Those are the Essie Gel Top Coat and Nails Inc. Nailkale Superfood Base Coat. I just find that these keep my manicure going for much longer. Finally, in order for my manicure to dry I would have to wait way too long and end up not waiting long enough. You know what happens, you get impatient and then ruin your hard work. In order to avoid this, I use the Up & Up Nail Polish Drying Spray. Just a few spritzes of this and I’m free to move on with my life.

Now that I’m done blathering on about the boring stuff, I’ll move on to the fun stuff. COLOR!

Here is what I like to use in the fall/winter time. Just a side note, I love going dark and neutral during this time.

L to R: Essie in Bare With Me, Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Game of Chromes, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Go Garnet, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Rockstar Pink

Essie in Bare With Me

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Game of Chromes (This is a great color for NYE.)

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Go Garnet (My newest favorite. Great deep burgundy, oxblood color.)

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Rockstar Pink (This one is great for putting over another color.)

And here is what I like to use in the spring/summer. Another side note, I love to use bright and pastel colors.

L to R: Essie in Splash of Grenadine, Essie in Hi Maintenance, Essie Gel Couture in Flashed, Sinful Colors in Sail La Vie
L to R: Sinful Colors in Mint Apple, Sinful Colors in Tempest

Essie in Splash of Grenadine

Essie in Hi Maintenance (This one you have to build up if you want more opacity.)

Essie Gel Couture in Flashed

Sinful Colors in Sail La Vie

Sinful Colors in Mint Apple (Another color you need to build up if you want more opacity.)

Sinful Colors in Tempest

Don’t you just love nail polish color names? I love the ones Essie comes up with. Let me know what your favorite nail polish brands, colors, or tools are in the comments below. I love hearing from you.

Thanks for reading!

Jess xx
