Connor Storrie Live

06.03.26 | jesslynnwrites | No Comments

Yep! That is what us loons have monikored this HUGE moment in Connor’s career over on tHReads. If you are new to all this, Threads has become the headquarters for all things Heated Rivalry, Connor, Hudson, etc. And we went WILD last Saturday night, and even before and after.

Side Note: Before I go any further with this post, I just want to point out the fact that I’m kind of returning to my roots with this little stream of consciousness. When I started this blog back in 2015, I would write about all things TV and entertainment, a passion of mine. I will link some of those posts at the end of this.

Okay, now to my thoughts on Connor being the host of SNL last Saturday.

Connor Storrie Hosting SNL Meant So Much to Us All.

But not nearly as much as it did to him. You could see it in his thank yous at the end of the show.

To witness this happening to someone so early in their career (For those that don’t know, Connor was literally working as a waiter 6 months before landing the role of Ilya Rozanov). I know my fellow loons already know this, but for those who don’t know. It is and was a true honor to have done so. As someone who loves to see people succeed (I’m an Aquarius, but we should all be this way) in their dreams, I was beaming with joy the whole day just thinking about how the episode was going to turn out. I was on a high the whole day, and that night I could feel myself come down from that high.

I’ve been watching SNL on and off for years. My favorite periods of this iconic show were the ’90s/’00s era of the show, mostly because that’s what I grew up with. And I think that’s the last time the show was good and enjoyable to watch for me. Connor hosting this show changed that. This was my favorite episode in recent years, hands down. There was cackling, smiling, and giggling emanating from me the whole way through. I can’t even remember the last time I did that watching SNL. I woke up the next morning still smiling and giddy just thinking about the masterpiece that was Connor on this show.

Getting a Little Parasocial Here For A Minute.

Ever since December, when I sat down to watch Heated Rivalry for the first time, I have felt this overwhelming sense of pride for a total stranger. I think watching Connor Storrie fulfill a dream is probably the pinnacle (for now) of that pride.

I said at the very beginning, in one of my monthly favorites posts I do over on Instagram/TikTok, that my parasocialness has manifested into this proud older sister vibe. I would never act on this parasocialness, but I honestly wanted to give Connor the biggest hug after. Much like Hudson (I’ll get back to him in a bit) did after Connor’s thank-you speech at the end of the show.

The Monologue.

Are you kidding me?! Top SNL monologue I’ve ever witnessed. Am I being hyperbolic? No! Connor talking about growing up and knowing that acting was his destiny. “I’m not a story! I’m a whole damn book!” Chef’s kiss. Then we get the Hughes brothers on. Just so we’re clear, I am a hockey fan, but I do not condone what happened in that locker room or how they have reacted and answered the backlash. Now, I don’t know if Connor got a say in this part of his monologue, but regardless of that, I don’t think he should have been the one to be the one to deliver that joke. I think it was great though that it was addressed, and they got significantly less cheering when they entered the stage.

I don’t know about you, but I cheered so hard when Megan and Hilary then entered the stage. The cheers the audience gave them were significantly louder and said volumes, literally. As they should have been. I much preferred the interaction with Connor and the ladies than I did the boys.

These thoughts aren’t as cohesive and articulate as I would like, but I hope you get my point.

The Sketches.

They were all good! I didn’t dislike one.

My favorite was the Ice Skating one. Yes, it’s partly because we got Connor and Hudson back together, but also, it was just hilarious. I was cackling 🤣 Connor going, “EEEEE!” The boyfriend being so confused as to why these guys were having so much fun. Every minute of that sketch was pure entertainment. On a side note, I always had a feeling that Hudson was going to show up for his friend. I know we were all speculating and knowing that he was in NYC. I was too, but despite everyone doing a fantastic job at keeping that a secret, I had no doubt in my mind that he wouldn’t have missed this.

I will admit that even though I knew that Connor had a background in clowning, I didn’t know until after watching the show that the last sketch was a bit taken from that time. It was great! But I do have one grievance. I die on the hill of no man should EVER wear a Speedo. I stand by that even when Connor is wearing one. No man, not even Connor, should wear a Speedo. I don’t care how good-looking he is, and he is.

You can watch them all here.

The Bumper Pictures.

They were all sooo good! I know I’ve been using ‘good’ a lot, but that’s honestly how I feel about this whole thing. Ooh! And he looked so good in that intro video when they announced the host at the beginning of the intro credits.

Closing Thank Yous.

Ahh! The ones that made me very emotional. I’ve never been more proud of men I have never met and don’t know, and may never. I know they were cut off for all of us, but I’m grateful for the release of the extended credits. To see Hudson hug Connor after he was done, and then to see Connor break down as soon as he saw his mom and sister. Oof! My heart! 😭

Okay, that’s it! I’m done. I am most likely forgetting many things that I wanted to talk about, but I also wanted to get this posted before it was too late. For some reason, this week has been extra emotional for me for no particular reason. Granted, I’m in my luteal phase, but I have never cried so much during this phase of my cycle in the past as I have this week. A few months ago, I couldn’t even imagine how much one show would change me fundamentally, as Heated Rivalry has. I thank the universe, the whole team behind Heated Rivalry, and you, my fellow loons, for bringing the joy back in this dark, dark world.
