Last Sunday the Golden Globe Awards aired. Now, this show has to be one of my favorites of the award show season. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This show combines both movies and TV and is just one big party. The actors/actresses/nominees sit at tables and drink and eat while they enjoy the show themselves.
This year, Ricky Gervais returned to hosting duties. I thought he was pretty funny, but for the most part was disappointed with his performance. I know there was controversy surrounding his return because of previous years, but he really toned it down this year. I just think he could have been funnier while still being appropriate. The presenters were great. My two favorite combos of the night were Jonah Hill/Channing Tatum and Amy Schumer/Jennifer Lawrence. Channing and Jonah did a bit that sort of made fun of The Revenant and Amy and Jennifer did a bit where they went back and forth talking about shipper names and other funny bits.
A few of my favorites were up for awards, but some didn’t win and some did. That’s just how it goes ๐ I was happy that Inside Out won Best Animated Movie and Lady Gaga won Best Actress for her role in AHS: Hotel. I haven’t watched it yet, but I look forward to seeing her performance in it. I’m a big fan of hers. Her acceptance speech was great, but her reaction to winning the category was priceless. You could really tell how genuinely surprised she was. I was disappointed that Gina Rodriguez didn’t win again for her role in Jane the Virgin (Gina is my new favorite actress. I think she is AMAZING!). But it was cool to see Rachel Bloom win the same award Gina won last year. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a new show on The CW, just like Jane the Virgin was, and Rachel Bloom is a newcomer so like I said it was pretty cool to see her get recognized for her work.
Overall, it was a great show and I enjoyed watching it as always. Oh! And I loved seeing all the gorgeous dresses on the red carpet. Everyone looked so beautiful and the men looked very dapper.
