This month’s PLAY! was actually a good one. Usually I get maybe one or two products that I really love and the rest are duds for me. This time around, I loved the majority of them. So, without further ado here are my first impressions.
beautyblender micro.mini: This isn’t actually my first beautyblender product. My first PLAY! included one of their other products, the blotting sponge. I was excited to receive this product, until I used it. I found it to be hard to use and that it was kind of flimsy. This particular one is used to reach those spots you can’t with a normal sponge. For instance, when you are trying to apply concealer around your nose or in the inner corner of your eye. I just felt like I didn’t have control of the sponge when doing this.
Clinique HIM Dual-Ended High Impact Mascara & Primer Duo: I was pretty happy to see this because ever since using the L’Oreal mascara primer and not loving it I’ve been wanting to try a new one. This one is great because I get two product in one, which means more room in my makeup bag! I will say that both the primer and mascara are pretty wet formulas, which I’m not a huge fan of. However, I did like that the primer didn’t leave a white residue and that the mascara separated and added length to my lashes. The primer is moisturizing, but I could only tell that after I had removed it. They are both pretty easy to remove with double cleansing. I usually find that with any mascara I use though. Finally, I was not a fan of it not being waterproof. I like to use waterproof mascaras because I have stick-straight lashes. I find that waterproof formulas hold the curl better.
Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Shell: Sephora got it totally wrong in the shade choice, but other than that this would have been a perfectly good foundation for me. This would have been my first stick foundation, which I have been dying to try. When I did swatch it, it felt nice and I could tell that it would be easy to apply. Not too drying and not too creamy where it would slip off.
Korres Golden Krocus Ageless Saffron Elixir Serum: I’m always down to using anti-aging products, so when I saw this little guy I was pretty stoked. Now, since I’ve only used this three times since I got it I can’t really tell you if it’s done anything to transform my skin. I will say that I have been enjoying using it. It smells amazing and gives your skin a glow. I’m not a fan of how sticky it is when you apply it. It also takes a bit before it fully dries and absorbs into the skin. So beware of it feeling sticky until then.
Alterna Haircare CAVIAR Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist: This stuff is pretty great. However, I do have some dislikes with this product. I found that it added volume, but not where I need it. My hair tends to lay flat against my head, so I like to add volume to the roots. This product did not do that for me. I got it through the lengths mainly. I also found that it made my hair feel greasy. I was wearing another product in my hair and I don’t if it maybe reacted to it. I just felt this residue in my hair when I brushed my fingers through it, even after straightening it too. Other than that, it did make my hair feel soft like it claims it does.
Burberry My Burberry Black Perfume: This perfume is beautiful! I found it to be very light, floral, and feminine. It just seemed like it would be a perfume a boss lady would wear. It also wears nicely throughout the day. I wore it from about 8:30 am to about 4 pm one day and it was just as strong.
Fragrance Family: Floral
Top Notes: Jasmine
Middle Notes: Candied Rose, Peach Nectar
Base Notes: Amber, Patchouli
I hope this gave you a little insight to the products I received this month. Let me know in the comments below what you received in your PLAY!, if you do, and whether you like the products or not. I would love to hear from you!
Thanks for reading!
