I know, I know. I did one of these recently (was it last Sunday? I can’t remember. Lolz!), but this was on my mind this past week.
Can we trust the people we talk to online? I personally am always cautious, especially now. I am on a few dating apps and I’m also on this other social app where you can talk to people socially or use it as a dating app. I like to use this latter one as kind of a modern day pen pal kinda thing.
In fact, I have been talking to this dude on it, let’s call him Ned. He actually initiated the connection. I immediately thought he was kinda charming, and also pretty cheesy, but I had this little voice at the the back of mind nagging me. It was telling me be careful, don’t give too much away, keep it casual and you may not be able to trust him. And so that is exactly what I have done. We keep it casual and don’t get too personal. I mean he has tried to get to that nitty gritty, but I shut it down quick.
I guess what I’m trying to get at is that we don’t always know who we are talking to online. Yes, most of those dating apps out there are somewhat regulated or so they claim. But for me, I’m not sure I can still trust that claim. Clearly I don’t completely as is evident by what I said above.
