July was another slow reading month. But it was a good reading month. I really enjoyed every book I did read and started a few I couldn’t finish. Here are my July reads.

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book…This book! Oooh! It was sooo good! I have been wracking my brain for about three weeks (or more) since reading this and still haven’t been able to put into words how much I loved this book. Atmosphere is for the space nerds and the romance lovers.

The Girlfriend Agreement by Rowan Croft

 

I received this as an eARC and have reviewed on another post, but I will say I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams

This story made me hate Facebook/Meta even more than I already do. Unfortunately, it’s everywhere and in order to stop using it we would all have to delete pretty much every social media app we use these days. The things that Sarah had to go through while working at Facebook…I tell ya! I found myself equal parts furious, horrified and disgusted. Unfortunately, I’m not surprised though. When you combine money and power, corruption is not far off.

Rebel Witch by Kristen Ciccarelli

Most of the time, a second book in a series or a duology (in this case) ends up being disappointing. Not the case with this one. It was just as good, if not better than Heartless Hunter. I don’t want to say much because it is a second in a duet, but I will say that it perfectly wrapped up Rune and Gideon’s story.

Darker than the Starless Night by Rebecca Brodkey

This is one of the books I started, but couldn’t finish. It has really long chapters that had me bored in the middle of them. One of my bookish pet peeves is really long chapters. I just think that instead of writing a book with less chapters, you could just write a longer book with more/shorter chapters and still get your point across. For me, that is more enjoyable. I would rather read a longer book with short chapters. Can you tell I’m passionate about it? I do plan on finishing this one, I just could feel myself heading towards a reading slump.

Glow of the Everflame by Penn Cole

So far, I am enjoying this. This time around, it’s interesting listening to listen to the story. I have since finished this one, so you will see my thoughts on it in my August reads post.
